Based on the work ASSASSINS
Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Tony Award–winning musical Assassins comes to Red Tree Theatre in Tuggerah, on the Central Coast. The show lines up the men and women who tried to kill a President of the United States — from John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald — and lets them share a stage across time, trading motives, grievances and gallows humour in a carnival-like revue. By turns funny, disturbing and strangely moving, it draws on the American songbook — vaudeville, folk, Sousa marches and barbershop — to ask what drives ordinary people to reach for infamy, and what the American Dream looks like from its margins. One of Sondheim's boldest scores, staged at Red Tree Theatre, Tuggerah — see performance dates and tickets below.
